We had a very nice week with the wedding of our son Daniel. The wedding was in the Salt Lake City temple. It was a beautiful cold snowy day. The ceremony was beautiful. All of our married children were in attendance. Charlie and Bonnie came from Oklahoma to be there.
Daniel is such a gentleman when it comes to Alyssa. Alyssa wore a beautiful cloak that my wife Cathy made. She hand stitched the fur around the edges. Each 5-foot section took about 6 hours. It looked beautiful and was warm. She also made a muff to keep her hands warm. They are very happy. They are on their way to California for their honeymoon. I wish them all the best.

All-State Band and Orchestra concert

I attended my son James' All-State Band and Orchestra concert with my family on Saturday. It was an amazing concert. The conductor was from the University of Pittsburg. He said that in 30 years of teaching conducting and conducting all kinds of bands this was the finest group he had ever had the privilege of working with. Quite a compliment. They sounded amazing. Every instrument was strong.

Went to Sarah's soccer game

Sarah had a soccer game after work. I enjoyed the game. They won five to one. Sarah's team has outscored their opponents 50 to 7. Sarah is pretty tough as the goalie.

Concerns about mom

We have been struggling with what to do about the care of my mom. While her ability to converse has improved, her ability to care for herself is still lacking in many areas. We are trying to get the nurses and administration at the care facility to understand. I have big concerns. It is hard to know what to do.

Labor Day

We had some pretty severe weather for Labor Day. Sort of changed our plans. Mom was on her walk when it hit. Cathy and Diana both had an umbrella trying to keep her dry. It was dumping buckets and hailing a bit. Later in the afternoon I took the kids to see Kung-Fu Panda. We all enjoyed it. Cathy and I did some shopping together. We finally replaced our dish washer that broke back in May. That should make things a little easier.

Good week at camp

I spent Mon-Wed at camp with Chris and five other boys. Our boys were all in full uniform. They were chosen to participate in a special Honor Campfire program where we retired a flag. They had all of our scouts in front giving the scout sign as the rest of the campers filed in.

I enjoyed carving and helping the boys with their merit badges. All of our boys earned archery, basketry, pioneering, and environmental science. They also participated in the COPE course. They made a big pioneering tower in our campsite. They also earned the Wakara Arrow award which required that they do 2 hours of service while at camp, wear full uniform, and be on time to all campfires, flag ceremonies, and meetings. We did the trash run for the entire camp and fixed arrows at the archery range for our service.

Painted bolo ties

I spent a good part of the evening painting the bolo ties I have carved to give to the scouts who are going to summer camp with me on Monday. They look really good. They are numbers 600-610.

My mom set a new speed record walking today. She got into the living room for scripture reading in 2 min 30 sec. Good job mom!
